“It’s many years since ISIS, also known as the Islamic State, held sway over much of Syria and northern Iraq a time when it spawned affiliates throughout Africa and Asia and organised a series of deadly terror attacks in European cities.
But as a terror group, it remains active in more than a dozen countries and has inspired and supported individuals and cells in Europe and Russia in recent years.
“ISIS is far from moribund, even if it is now a loosely linked network rather than a self-declared caliphate controlling sizeable cities.
The most high-profile attack claimed by ISIS in 2024 was the devastating assault on a Moscow shopping mall in March, which left at least 150 dead and more than 500 injured” (CNN)
West Africa on spotlights
The recent happenings about terror in West Africa should make every ear tingle and start calling for help.
In many parts of North East Nigeria and bordering Cameroon, terrorism is still flourishing, and all its messes are still everywhere.
There are collision forces from many countries still battling the ISIS and other global terror organisations, but now that many factions of terror groups are gaining momentum in West Africa, who will rise and prevail against them before it is too late?
